Bright Spot: Rochester Woman Build team breaks ground on 20th Women Build House

Rochester, N.Y. — Our Bright Spot shines on Habitat for Humanity's Women Build. It's International Women's Day, and on Friday, the Rochester Woman Build team broke ground on their 20th 'Women Build' House.

Every year, women's teams fundraise and volunteer to build a Habitat for Humanity home.

Almost all of the homes have gone to single mothers and their children.

"Women Build is extra special because it's women helping other women, and we empower women in the process of building the house, so all of that makes it really special to me," said Pamela Bradley, chair, Women Build Steering Committee for the Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity.

Our kudos to them, and we wish them a Happy International Women's Day!

Rochester, N.Y. - The start of a new chapter of homeownership in the area. Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity celebrated Rochester's first two-story modular home on Friday in the Beechwood neighborhood. The nonprofit says the modular building process slashes construction time and costs, helping more families get safe and affordable homes faster. It also says frame-based house construction will continue, as it helps teach volunteers valuable technical skills.
